Depart Arusha in the morning and drive towards Mto wa Mbu (Lake Manyara) for a scenic lunch. Afterward, continue north along the dramatic Great Rift Valley wall to reach Lake Natron and the village of Ngare Sero, nestled at the base of the majestic Ol Doinyo Lengai volcano.
Today begins with a 3-hour walk from Lake Natron to Ngare Sero. From there, continue on another 3-hour trek to the lower slopes of Ol Doinyo Lengai. The support vehicle will meet you further up to reduce walking time and effort. Overnight at a base camp in the gully near the volcano.
Begin the hike to the summit of Ol Doinyo Lengai early before sunrise to take advantage of the cooler temperatures. Reach the crater rim and take in awe-inspiring views of the volcanic landscape. Descend carefully due to loose gravel and return to Lake Natron for overnight camping.
After breakfast, depart Lake Natron and head back to Arusha. Enjoy final glimpses of the wild landscapes along the Rift Valley before arriving in town for drop-off at your hotel or the airport.
