Conquer Africa’s highest peak via the scenic and challenging Machame Route – known as the “Whiskey Route.” This 8-day itinerary allows for ideal acclimatization and maximizes your summit success chances. Traverse rainforest trails, alpine deserts, and glacier-covered peaks as you ascend to the Uhuru Peak at 5,895 meters with expert local guides from Wild Queen Discover.
Day 1: Arrival in Moshi – Airport pickup and pre-climb briefing at your hotel.
Day 2: Machame Gate to Machame Camp (3,000m) – Hike through lush rainforest (5-6 hrs).
Day 3: Machame Camp to Shira Camp (3,840m) – Trek through moorland zone (5-6 hrs).
Day 4: Shira to Lava Tower (4,630m), then descend to Barranco Camp (3,960m) for acclimatization (6-7 hrs).
Day 5: Barranco to Karanga Camp (4,035m) – Conquer the Barranco Wall (4-5 hrs).
Day 6: Karanga to Barafu Camp (4,640m) – Prepare for summit night (3-4 hrs).
Day 7: Summit to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) and descend to Mweka Camp (3,100m) – 12-14 hrs total trek.
Day 8: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate – Descend through rainforest, receive summit certificate, and transfer to Moshi.
All packages include transfers, park fees, rescue fees, guide/porter salaries, meals, water, tents, and crew support. Flights, tips, and personal expenses are not included.
